Directions to Covenant

Covenant Baptist Church's extensive ministries are divided into the five following major categories: Nurture, Stewardship, Evangelism & Outreach, Christian Education, and Worship & Intercession.

The Ministry of Nurture provides spiritual, emotional, psychological, nutritional, and recreational support primarily to the members of the Covenant Baptist Church family.  Its holistic approach is designed to help persons take care of themselves, even as they are engaged in the business of taking care of others.  It is a ministry that seeks to meet people at their various points of need, both individually and collectively.

The Ministry of Stewardship provides guidance and direction to the church body in the effective and responsible management of time, talent, and treasures.  Through example and instruction, the ministry assists individuals, families, ministries of the church and the church as a whole in the proper procurement of resources, as well as in their wise expenditure and investment.  It is a ministry that seeks to maximize our potential to do much with little.

The Ministry of Evangelism & Outreach provides a means of communicating the gospel of Jesus Christ beyond the walls of the church building through word and deed. Its two-fold focus on reaching out and bringing in allows the mission of the church and the growth of the church to complement each other in mutually beneficial ways. Because the message of Jesus Christ cannot be separated from his concern to feed the hungry, so the Evangelism and Outreach Ministry seeks to feed people both spiritually and physically. While spreading the good news about Jesus and inviting people to join our fellowship, we also address their basic needs through community service, social action, and comprehensive program of local, national, and international missions.

The Ministry of Christian Education provides an extensive program of Christian Education and Instruction for members and friends of the Covenant Baptist Church family and beyond. The term, "Christian Education," is defined broadly to include any information or experience that enhances one's knowledge of God, self, or others, or that helps one to realize one's full potential as a human being and a child of God. Both traditional and innovative approaches to education are emphasized.

The Ministry of Worship and Intercession provides assistance to the pastors in the development of meaningful, creative, and appropriate worship, prayer, and praise experience for the entire congregation. This ministry seeks to coordinate all aspects of worship in a unified and coherent fashion so that the worshiper is afforded the greatest possible chance of entering into the presence of God. In addition to planning services of intercessory prayer and special periods of church-wide prayer and fasting, this ministry also consults the Christian Calendar and selected African and African American observances in helping to develop a thematic and seasonal approach to planning the church's annual schedule of worship events.

Affirming our African heritage, our vision is to build an inclusive body of biblical believers who continue to grow in Christ as we love, serve, and fellowship with the community and each other.
