Ministry of Worship & Intercession

The Ministry of Worship and Intercession provides assistance to the Pastors in the development of meaningful, creative, and appropriate worship, prayer, and praise experience for the entire congregation.  This ministry seeks to coordinate all aspects of worship in a unified and coherent fashion so that the worshipper is afforded the greatest possible opportunity of entering into the presence of God.  In addition to planning services of intercessory prayer and special periods of church-wide prayer and fasting, this ministry also consults the Christian Calendar and selected African and African American observances in helping develop a thematic and seasonal approach to planning the church's annual schedule of worship events.

AUDIO VISUAL
The Audio Visual Ministry is responsible for providing sound to Covenant Baptist Church during each Sunday service as well as special events at the church.  Our major activities include:

  • Providing sound during services/events
  • Providing CDs of each service upon request
  • Providing CDs to the sick and shut-in members

MUSIC
The Music Ministry assists our Pastors in spreading the spoken word by leading in musical praise and worship during the worship service.  When requested, the Choirs also accompany the Pastors when they are serving as guest ministers at other churches.  Praise groups emanating from the choir are:

  • Children's Choir/Can Do Kids
  • Mass Choir
  • Men's Choir
  • Voices of Epiphany/Young Adults & Youth
  • Voices of Faith
  • Women's Ensemble

PHOTOGRAPHY
The Photography Ministry is responsible for documenting major activities and events in the life of our church.  These images are used to record and tell a visual story of Covenant Baptist Church at this period in its history.  Photographs from these events are displayed for members and visitors to view.  It is our prayer that many members who view the photos will be encouraged to become more active in the church's many activities.

The ministry provides photographic services for numerous events including baptisms, right-hand-of-fellowship, African Heritage Day, Can Do Kids Service, Men's and Women's Day, Pastors and Church Anniversaries, Vacation Bible School, Ordination and Installation Services, and Community Outreach.

S.P.I.R.I.T.
Like prayer, music and preaching, liturgical dance can be integrated into the worship service.  The word Liturgical comes from the word "liturgy" which means a Eucharist rite or ritual.  In its highest form, liturgical dance is like a silver thread woven into the fabric of worship.  As a ministry, dance is most effectively used to illuminate the scripture by bringing to life the stories of the Bible, and to celebrate the holy days of the church.

The mission of S.P.I.R.I.T. is to identify with those who feel called to the Dance Ministry of Covenant Baptist Church by providing education and training on the use of dance to glorify God in praise and worship.  Our purpose is to:

  • Worship God in body, mind, and spirit
  • Use our bodies as an instrument of prayer, devotion, praise and spiritual warfare
  • Usher God's people into a higher realm of praise and worship through visual demonstration of the scriptures
  • Bring new souls to Christ through outreach and community service via purpose-filled movement and publicly communing with God.

USHER
The mission of the Usher Board is to support the church in its mission to be a progressive witness for Jesus Christ.  We will strive to facilitate the worship services and attend the needs of the congregation and pulpit and serve as first line greeters to the congregation and visitors.

Affirming our African heritage, our vision is to build an inclusive body of biblical believers who continue to grow in Christ as we love, serve, and fellowship with the community and each other.
